Lourdes A. Casuso, MD joined the team at the Center For Excellence in Eye Care in August of 2002. Doctor Casuso serves as the Glaucoma Specialist for the group, concentrating her practice on the diagnosis, treatment and management of glaucoma on a consultative basis. Doctor Casuso's area of expertise includes laser and surgical management of glaucoma patients of all ages.
Doctor Lourdes Casuso received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Florida International University in 1993, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She obtained the Medical Doctor degree from the University Of Miami School Of Medicine in 1997. She completed twelve months of Internal Medicine training at the busy Jackson Memorial Hospital from 1997 to 1998. Doctor Lourdes Casuso received her ophthalmology training at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute from 1998 to 2001. She remained at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute from 2001 to 2002 to complete a year of specialty training exclusively in the field of glaucoma.
Doctor Lourdes Casuso is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Miami Ophthalmological Society, the American Medical Association, the Florida Association of Ophthalmolgy, and the Miami Dade County Medical Association. As an alumnus of the University of Miami, Doctor Casuso is also involved in mentoring young medical students.
Doctor Casuso is of Cuban origin and speaks fluent Spanish and English. When not involved in patient care, Doctor Casuso enjoys activities and hobbies with her husband, Dr. Brian Hagenlocker and their children.
