We are so excited and happy to welcome our new Glaucoma specialist, Dr. Cristobal Cruz Colon to our Center for Excellence in Eye Care team! Today, Monday, October 28th, 2013 was his first day here at the Center.

Dr. Cruz Colon joins Dr. Lourdes Casuso in the glaucoma department of our center. Dr. Cruz Colon, fluent in both English and Spanish, is currently available to serve the needs of new glaucoma patients at both of our locations. Call now to arrange an appointment: 305-598-2020. Cristobal Cruz Colón, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical/surgical treatment and management of all forms of glaucoma. Dr. Cruz Colón believes in working in partnership with his patients to help save or improve their vision and he derives great satisfaction from positive results. Dr. Cruz Colón has extensive training in state-of-the-art optic nerve imaging and glaucoma progression analysis. He readily embraces emerging surgical techniques including tube shunts, canaloplasty, Ex-Press™ shunts, deep sclerectomy and endocyclophotocoagulation, engaging them as appropriate for each patient.

Dr. Cruz Colón attended the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine, graduating among the top of his class. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Puerto Rico, and continued his training at the prestigious Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, where he was honored with the Bill Tasman Wills Eye Fellow of the Year Award.

One of Dr. Cruz Colón’s passions is his involvement with international medical missions, primarily throughout the Caribbean and South America, where he has performed eye surgery and provided treatment to adults and children — some of whom have never before received eye care.
