Tuesday, July 31st, our doctors hosted a wonderful educational dinner lecture event at Fleming’s in Coral Gables.  We were joined by 26 other eye doctors in our South Florida Community, and in total we were 4o.

Dr. Cristobal Cruz Colon gave a lecture on the Latest treatments in Glaucoma and he shared all of the options that we can now give our patients who are battling glaucoma and high intraocular pressure. From the new drops on the market, how to combine them, to new, exciting surgical options, Dr. Cruz really gave some exceptional examples of how he decides to go about treatment with each patient.

Dr. Cruz also introduced Dr. Ana Carolina Victoria, our new Oculoplastic Specialist who brings with her an immense amount of experience and wonderful talent. Dr. Cruz shared with the crowd how he met Dr. Victoria – one fateful day on a very scary, sad gunshot wound case at Kendall Regional Hospital while he was on call.  A patient who had been shot in the head by her husband, had lost her eye and was going through countless surgeries due to her injuries.

When Dr. Cruz called Dr. Victoria and she came to the rescue, he recognized her incredible skill and he shared with the crowd that we are lucky to have her on our team.

As an oculoplastic specialist, Dr. Victoria’s expertise includes a wide variety of surgical procedures that deal with the orbit (eye socket), eyelids, tear ducts, and the face. She also works on the reconstruction of the eye and associated structures.  At our dinner, Dr. Victoria spoke about all of the services she provides which include: chalazion (or stye) removal, blepharoplasty (lid surgery & repair), as well as non-invasive and surgical options such as facelift, necklift and other aesthetic treatments.
